Matt Hales and his wife Lisa are longtime residents of Norfolk and presently live in East Ocean View. Throughout the years, Matt has always had an interest in serving the community. He was the director of the East Beach Community Homeowners Association, is a member of the Knights of Columbus, and is active in his local civic league. Matt was inspired to further his public service when he ran for Norfolk City Council in 2010. That effort, and the experience of going door to door meeting voters, allowed him to learn the concerns of the citizens of Norfolk first hand. His tireless efforts and dedication campaigning did not go unnoticed. In 2011 the Norfolk City Council appointed Matt to the Planning Commission, and he has served there ever since.
Matt wants to utilize his vast business experience and financial expertise to better serve the citizens of Norfolk. His primary goal is to make the Treasurer’s Office more efficient, easier to work with, and transparent. Keeping track of your money is where Matt wants to focus his future.
